THE LOVE CLUB MOMS: TORY

Overview

"Tory, a publishing powerhouse, gives up on dating and adopts a baby girl. Her friends help her find and hire a nanny, Finn, who could be the partner she was looking for."

As a fan of Ms. Newbrough's work, I didn't need any persuading to watch this film. My expectations were not high going into this, but I was pleasantly surprised. The acting talent is superb, and the storyline has a nice ratio of depth to light heartedness. I love the dynamic between Tory and the Love Club Moms. It's clear that they have the best interest of each other in mind, and it's nice to see the way they look out for each other.

(Left to Right: Ashley Newbrough, Genelle Williams, Rebecca Dalton, Nazneen Contractor)

I was a tad hesitant about the romantic chemistry between Tory and Finn, but my fears were quickly subsided. I do wish, though, that Tory's affection toward Finn was more apparent. It feels more implied, since she spends most of her time denying that she has any feelings for him. The actor who plays Finn, Ryan Bruce, does a brilliant job of expressing the nuances of his character. At times he appears passive, but I think his character discovers a strength in himself that enables him to work past this.

The "Guy #2", or opposing love interest Greg, is introduced and at first glance it seems that Finn might have some serious competition. But that is dispelled the moment we learn that Greg is not all that he seems. Greg is played by Ed Pinker, who previously worked with Ryan Bruce in the 2023 film "How To Win A Prince".

The bar is certainly set high with this film, as I understand that three others will follow with each of the remaining Love Club Moms getting a storyline of their own. Starting with Ashley's character was a smart choice, a decision which was also made for Hallmark's "Heart's Around the Table" series, which features Ashley as a main character.

I can say that I definitely enjoyed it, and the actor performances are a huge part of that. I was already a fan of Rebecca from her time on "Good Witch" and in "Head Over Heels", so I look forward to her time in the spotlight. I intend to write posts for each installment as it comes out, so check back here for more updates!

I'm not new to blogging by any means, but as this is my first film review blog, I am still finding my legs and learning to adjust my writing style. I want to give you my best work, and I will always be committed to improving. I imagine it will take some time to get into the swing of things, so I appreciate all those who find their way here and choose to interact in some form or another.
